Dark Ages

I'm looking for books on the Dark Ages. Does anyone have some good non-fiction -- or even fiction -- that would give me a semi-accurate idea of what daily life was like in ca. 900AD-William I? I'd like the fiction to be at least somewhat historically accurate, and I'm looking for less reference book/encyclopedia and more a book I can just sit down and read for non-fiction. Children's/Adult/YA -- doesn't matter. I'm just curious and want to gain a general understanding of what daily life was back then, how the kingdom was generally set up, what it was like for the people.
