Fiction books where someone learns to be a magician/illusionist
I'm asking the bookish hive mind for recommendations:
I'm looking for fiction books where someone learn how to be a magician/illusionist (as opposed to learning how to do magic, as in Harry Potter). Bonus points if it's set in the Victorian era. The magic tricks and illusions learned can still have elements of real magic, though (recent example: The Night Circus).
Also, fictional books that look at Victorian musicians/illusionists are also appreciated. I've already got the Prestige, The Night Circus, and a couple of others, but I'm always on the hunt for more.
Please and thank you :)
