Need Some Ideas for Upcoming Trip

Hello everyone! I need some help. I'm going on a random shopping trip to Borders (to take advantage of the sales, of course) to prepare for an upcoming trip where I will need to occupy about 4.5 hours of plane time. I haven't picked up or looked at new books in a while because of summer college classes, but now I'm ready to explore some good ones while I have the time!

Here's what I'm looking for: I am really into non-fiction right now. I like historical non-fiction or books analyzing recent events (not political, though). I want something that is really interesting and makes you think a bit. 

I hope that you can help! Let me know if recent examples of books like this I enjoyed might help. Thanks!!!
