looking for nonfiction books

I'm looking for books on life in France in the late eighteenth to early nineteenth century. I'm researching for fic in a canon that is semi-AU, so the actual dates & events type history isn't really important - what I'm looking for is what general life was like, how society was organized, what occupations you'd have if you were of certain rank. My protagonist is going to be involved in the ensuing Revolutionary/Napoleonic wars, so books you thought were informative about that subject would be good, too - I get the feeling there's probably a lot in that area ;)

Thank you very much in advance!
