iPad vs. Nook Color

So, today I decided that I want an e-reader. I've already made up my mind on the Nook vs. Kindle debate, and I went with Nook because I would really prefer the software to be colored.

Now that I've looked at iPads, I've discovered that they have everything I want... in one. It includes the Nook, Kindle, Kobo, and its own, iBooks, e-reading devices all in one device.

My question: Would I get the whole Nook Color experience in the iPad... like, would I be able to read magazines and newspapers?

Is the "Over 2 million books" feature still existent in the iPad?

If anyone can help me with the answers to these questions, as well as their input on which to get, it would be much appreciated.

Also, if you own either of the two, could you give reasons why you do or don't recommend them? Thanks!
