
In Kay’s world, dragons exist simultaneously with iPods, cell phones, and the internet. They’re rumored to be dangerous, but no one has seen one up close in years—60 years, in fact. Since the war that broke out across the world between humans and these mythical creatures, no one has broken the Silver River Treaty. People have learned to adapt to dragon-raid drills, but for the most part have grown complacent and honor the boundaries like good citizens. When Kay comes face to face with a dragon, she crosses more than just a line on a map: Kay can’t ever undo what she’s done and go back to the way things were before.
