Kylara Vatta has outsmarted a team of mercenaries, braved her first solo voyage as Captain of a company ship, but still hasn’t delivered her cargo or made the journey to Lastaway—the planet she was supposed to be aiming for. With the war behind her, Ky gathers her remaining crew to finish her trading run when her family’s compound at Corleigh is attacked. It’s safer for Ky to assume she’s the last remaining Vatta than to rush home, especially since communications in or out of the system have been compromised. Now she’s on a mission to find other Vatta family members, ships, or crew and preserve Vatta Transport Ltd. as a company while avoiding mysterious attackers that would rather see her dead.
