Seeking modern gothic love stories?

I confess, i'm completely addicted to Barbara Michaels' books. But i'm almost done reading everything she's ever written! (As Barbara Michaels AND as Elizabeth Peters, but i prefer the Michaels stuff.) What am i going to read next? I want a nice easy read; spooky and gothic-style, with a modern setting (modern being 1960-present), and not violent or bloody/gory. And definitely with the hero and heroine living happily ever after at the end of the book! Are there any other authors out there who write Barbara Michaels-type books? I liked House of Many Shadows and Be Buried in the Rain best of all of her books, if that helps.

Tl;dr version:
Gothic horror/romance
Creepy but not gory
Not historical fiction

Thanks, all!

ETA: Someone recommended Mary Stewart to me once, but i can never manage to get through her books, something in her style just bores me to tears. Also, similarauthors.com just told me to try Mary Higgins Clark, but i don't know about that! Is she in the spooky/romance genre?
