I'm a writer, like many of you guys, and have recently managed to get a short story through to the first round of the Read International short story competition, Read for Read.
Read International is a UK-based charity that sends much needed text books to schools in Tanzania and Uganda. Due to the charitable nature of the competition, writers have to earn votes in order to go through to the next round.
The theme was "It started with a book," and some of the entries are fantastic, so if you're into short stories it's worth mooching through. You can read them here. Mine's called Our Terry, about halfway down the page. I'd describe it as a Jonathan Creek episode with a Brit punk soundtrack. If you enjoy it, I'd really appreciate some votes!
Cheers guys.
