Recommendations Please?

Please tell me of a beautiful not-too-fantastic/unbelievable fantasy novel?

And I'm not talking about The Lord of the Rings or Narnia etc etc ... not something that is crazy popular.

I'm starting to compile a summer reading list.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated-- I want to slip away into a more beautiful world.
