Changing opinions

Has anyone really disliked a book on first reading and then tried it again only to discover they actually loved it?

Example - I almost vetoed Gene Wolfe to myself entirely after reading Castleview at the library, which I somehow found to be turgid and generally a waste of my time. After going the more normal New Sun/Long Sun/Short Sun route, I re-read what appeared to be a completely different book, which is now one of my favourites.
