The thing is that she has the reading age of an 11 year old so books aimed at her age range are far too babyish for her to read, but books that are at her reading level contain themes which she's not emotionally ready to deal with.
Can anyone recommend books or authors that would be good for her to try out? I plan on getting her a few for xmas but we (my mum and I) want a large list as her school don't have any books that are appropriate for her - we have to borrow them from the local library.
I was thinking about Enid Blyton as I remember the books being quite sweetness and light and I was reading them in middle school so I doubt they'd be too babyish for her. Erin has quite a developed sense of right and wrong and she doesnt like things to be unfair, so thought these would be a good start. Any thoughts? Roald Dahl is out at the moment as she's not a fan of bad things happening - even if everything turns out alright at the end.
ETA: Wow, between the two communities I got over 300 books recommended and added to her wishlist. Going to take a while to go through all those. Thanks!
