Eclipse - Stephenie Meyer

The more of this series I read, the more the characters annoy me.  Unfortunately I have to complete the series as I'm that kind of person but I really do not understand how these books are so popular.  For a start the amount of spelling mistakes and words missing from sentences was appalling.  By this stage this wasn't a low budget production where no one could afford editors.

Bella has always kind of annoyed me but this book made me not only hate her but the also the message she is sending.  I don't understand the relationship between Bella and Edward but what I dislike most is that instead of her being a strong confident young woman she is weak and hides behind a strong male figure and even uses the threat (I am paraphrasing here) "I'm gonna get my boyfriend to beat you up".  I'm not saying that all female characters in books should be strong but really what kind of message is this sending to teenage girls?  The romance of the book has not swept me off my feet.
