Why'd I pick that up?

Just curious if this has ever happened to anyone else. Awhile back I was stuck for reading material and grabbed something from a remainder bin. It was a book called This Cold Heaven, Seven Seasons in Greenland by Gretel Ehrlich. I had never given any thought to Greenland. I had never heard of the author. I had never heard of the book. I don't know why I picked it up. Anyway, it turned out to be one of the best books I'd read that year. And I still don't know what possessed me to ever pick it up.

Has this type of thing happened to anyone else? Anyone want to tell me about an unexpected gem that just fell into their lap?
