Good translations?

I read The Brothers Karamazov, and I hated it.  However, I don't blame the author.  I truly think I had a bad translation.  The book itself had multiple spelling errors, so who knows what else was wrong.  With that in mind, I'm looking for suggestions for really good translations of Crime and Punishment and War and Peace.  I don't want to read these monsters and have another bad experience.  Well, not due to translation, at least.
