Looking for end-of-the-world books

So, I have a really weird quirk. I love movies and books that deal with the end of the world (as we know it)/Armageddon/etc. Think of the movies Armageddon, Deep Impact, The Day After Tomorrow, etc. I'm currently reading Plague Year and Plague War by Jeff Carlson, but I want more.

So sock it to me: plague, war, nuclear fallout, put onto a new planet by aliens (a la Anne McCaffrey's Landing series), world shifting on its axis, millenium striking, omg killer asteroid... anything with the best and worst of humanity shining through in the desperate moments.

The only books I'm not looking for are the Left Behind series. Those are already on my list.

Thanks in advance for the recs!

x-posted several places--sorry if you see it several times.
