InterWorld by Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves

An ordinary teenager suddenly learns that he has [insert magical ability here]. In this case he can "walk" between the myriad worlds of the multiverse. The worlds form an arc or a bell curve, with magical universes at one end and technologically advanced worlds at the other. Two great powers, the magic wielding Hex and the cybernetic Binary battle for control. Only our intrepid hero and his companions can save the worlds. Oh, and his companions are all versions of himself from alternate Earths.

This book was a disappointment to me, mainly because I expected more from Neil Gaiman. The authors have come up with a fascinating premiss but they don't really do much with it.
