Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss

im currently in the middle of Name of the Wind.  ooh doggy, it's really fucking good.

a summary from the website:

So begins the tale of Kvothe—from his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, to years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-riddled city, to his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a difficult and dangerous school of magic. In these pages you will come to know Kvothe as a notorious magician, an accomplished thief, a masterful musician, and an infamous assassin. But The Name of the Wind is so much more—for the story it tells reveals the truth behind Kvothe's legend.

i read a lot of stuff all over the place, so i'm not really good at saying why i like the books i read - ive read books that are complete crap just because i needed something brainless to read.  this is NOT one of them.  i think the blurbs on the back pretty much sum it up.  It's taken a lot of twists and turns (if you like story within a story books, this is a good one) im not really sure where it's going, but im truly fascinated by the world and the characters and it's a trilogy so there's going to be at least two more books.  squee.
