Overview:
This book is the first in the series, named for the lead character Gemma Doyle.

On her 16th birthday, a tragedy falls upon her family and she is shipped off to London, to attend a prep school, The Spence Academy, basically to become a good wife. What she always wanted right? Wrong.
At the school, strange events start to happen to her, a mysterious boy watches her and her life becomes one puzzle after the next. She starts to believe something strange and magical has happened to her. The mystery's of her family finally come to light, the good and bad.

Review:
I really liked this book! I usually don't read YA books, but this one was written very well. The characters are real and have so much depth to them. It's an easy read, but it was a page turner for me.
I very recommend this to people who like the Victorian Era (as I do =D). It gives a real interesting view on the way the world percieved women and how they really act away from society.
