Children's Books

I'm taking a class on modern British fantasy for children, and we're reading 15 different books by British authors for children. We've finished The Hobbit by Tolkien and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, and are currently discussing Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pierce. In the future we'll be reading books such as James and the Giant Peach, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Watership Down, and The Golden Compass.

I just got back from class and I guess I'm in the mood for reading your thoughts on children's books. What were your favorites as a child? Have you gone back and read them again and have you enjoyed them just as much? Do you sometimes still read children's books? What are some memories you have of reading as a child?
