GOOD Horror

So there have been a lot of people asking for recommendations in this community lately. Hopefully you can take the time to answer just one more? I'm a huge horror fanatic. But I've found that a lot of the horror novels I come across are extremely dull and don't hold my attention well because the plot is so contrite.

I need a horror novel that will have me thinking throughout the entire book. I want characters that evoke emotion and a plotline like a rollercoaster. Psychological horror is great. Gore is also great. Don't be afraid, here, give me something that pushes the limits. I want something that wouldn't be acceptable in civilized society. I want something that might even make some people throw up.

Got anything for me?
